Many local public libraries offer eBooks to be checked out and read on your portable device and/or computer.
(eBooks checked out from the public library cannot be read on Kindles.)

Requirements

  • A valid public library card (Library card number must be entered and a password might be required)
  • Brief access to the internet
  • Free software for the device you're using

Steps to Prepare for Your eBook Check Out

  1. Download and install digital book software (Adobe Digital Editions)
  2. Register your free software
  3. Check out and enjoy your digital books
    • Browse or search the Overdrive site for digital books (Wisconsin Public Library Consortium Digital Download Center)
    • When you locate the title you want, simply add it to your cart and check out the title
    • If your desired book is not available, you may place a hold on the title
    • Once you've checked out your eBook book, a download page will be displayed
    • Once your download is complete, you can enjoy your eBook offline
    • You will never accrue late fees with eBooks as they are automatically "returned" to the library

Check your local library for additional information or if you need help with this process.
